How to Use Bonuses in Heartland to Incentivize Customers

Learn how to use OneShop's bonus system to drive return visits with custom promotions and dollar-off rewards.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

🎁 1. What Are Bonuses in OneShop?

  • Bonuses = Promotions in OneShop (not loyalty rewards).

  • Used to incentivize customer behavior like:

    • Birthday rewards

    • Win-back offers (for inactive customers)

    • Seasonal promotions

💡 Since Bricks & Minifigs isn’t using OneShop’s loyalty program, bonuses are the primary reward tool for marketing.

🛠 2. Where You Can Add Bonuses

Bonuses can be added in:

  • Basic Broadcasts

  • Advanced Broadcasts

  • Automations

📍 A. Basic Broadcasts

  • Go to Marketing > Create Basic Broadcast

  • Scroll to the Bonus section

  • Choose:

    • Dollar Amount – e.g., $5 off (auto-applied in Heartland)

    • Custom – e.g., “Buy one, get one free minifig” (manually applied)

  • Set:

    • Customer-facing label (e.g., “$5 Birthday Bonus”)

    • Start and End Dates

📍 B. Advanced Broadcasts

  • Same bonus setup as Basic Broadcasts

  • Found within the broadcast editor

📍 C. Automations

  • Navigate to Automations > Click an Automation

  • Inside each message, choose to add/edit a bonus

  • Instead of fixed dates, you define:

    • “Expires in X days” after the message is sent

🧾 4. How to Redeem Bonuses in Heartland

  1. Check Customer In via tablet or add to ticket

  2. OneShop bar shows bonuses (separate from Ready Set Retail rewards)

  3. Click “Claim Bonus” to apply:

    • Dollar-off bonuses will automatically discount the ticket

    • Custom bonuses need to be manually handled by staff

  4. If a bonus is accidentally added:

    • Click “Remove” to undo it before closing the sale

🎯 Bonuses are tracked in OneShop, so each reward is one-time use per customer.

📌 5. Best Practices

  • Use customer-facing labels to clearly explain promotions.

  • Make sure staff is trained to:

    • Identify and apply custom bonuses manually in Heartland.

    • Avoid duplicating or mistakenly skipping bonus redemptions.

  • Use bonuses strategically:

    • Birthdays

    • Holidays

    • Clearance events
