1. Understand the Importance
Before jumping in, it's crucial to know:
Subject Line: This appears in bold in the recipient’s inbox. It's your main hook.
Pre-Header: This is the short text that follows the subject, giving more context about the email.
Together, these determine whether your email gets opened — even more than the design inside.
2. Access the Email Editor
Navigate to the Email section in your broadcast.
Click “Edit HTML Email” to open the full editor.
3. Add Your Subject Line
At the top of the editor, locate the Subject Line field.
Enter a compelling subject — something that will grab attention (e.g., "Your VIP Invite – This Weekend Only!").
4. Set a Custom Pre-Header
Important Note:
If you don’t set a pre-header manually, OneShop auto-fills it using:
Copy from your email body, and
Any image URLs (which may look messy or irrelevant to readers).
To manually control your preview:
Inside the email editor, click into the Body settings.
Find the Pre-Header Text field.
Add a meaningful snippet like:
"Early access to exclusive deals – don’t miss out!"Click Save to confirm the changes.
5. Preview Your Work
Once saved:
Return to the main email preview screen.
Your Subject Line and Pre-Header Text should now display exactly as recipients will see them in their inbox.
6. Best Practices for Subject & Pre-Header
Keep it short and snappy: Aim for under 50 characters for best mobile visibility.
Use urgency or exclusivity: “This weekend only,” “Your exclusive code,” etc.
Avoid spammy phrases: Stay away from ALL CAPS or too many exclamation marks.
Match the content: Make sure your subject and pre-header reflect what’s actually inside the email.
