Setting up E-commerce Email Automations with Shopify 🛒

Learn how to use Shopify’s free tools to create ecommerce-specific automations, like abandoned cart and checkout emails, alongside OneShop.

In order to add email automations to Shopify such as abandon cart and abandon checkout you will need the below free apps from Shopify:

1. Download the Shopify Email App

  • In the Shopify App Store, search for and download Shopify Email.

  • Once installed, you’ll find Shopify Email in the left-hand menu of Shopify’s admin portal.


2. Create an Ecommerce Automation

  • In Shopify Email, select Create Automation.

  • From the list of automation types, choose an option like:

    • Abandoned Checkout

    • Abandoned Cart

    • Product Browse Abandonment


3. Set Up an Abandoned Checkout Automation

  • For this example, select Abandoned Checkout.

  • Click Turn on Automation to activate the workflow.

  • Your automation will now run automatically for abandoned checkouts.


4. Edit the Automation Using Shopify Flow (Optional)

  • To further customize, download the Shopify Flow app from the Shopify App Store.

  • In Shopify Flow, locate your Abandoned Checkout automation and click to edit.

  • Adjust the email content and personalize it to reflect your brand style and messaging.


5. Enable and Customize Marketing Emails

  • After editing, activate the Send Marketing Email option to enable your customized email content.

  • You can personalize the email’s design and message to align with your store’s branding.


Using these Shopify tools alongside OneShop allows you to cover essential ecommerce automations without switching platforms, ensuring a smooth and effective customer experience.
